Well, posts here at Dig or Die are going to get a little sparse over the next few weeks, as we will be busy welcoming our own addition to the Recruiting Class of 2026 into our little volleyball family.
We'll have updates on the new season as soon as we can, or as soon as we are able to get some sleep -- whatever comes first. So keep checking back with us! |

Earlier in the summer, we told you about the Thunderbirds' first recruit for the 2008-09 season, Rex Fenton. But the T-Birds weren't done with recruiting, and have a couple more athletes to add to their already strong roster. One's returning to the lineup after a season at community college, while the other is a highly touted freshman.

We continue our countdown to the start of the CIS season with a look at this season's recruits for the York Lions women's team. (Am I getting old? I must be. I remember when the York team used to be Yeomen.) And wow, this is a sweet recruiting class indeed.
York's been *just* this side of the top of the OUA East for a little while now, and they're bringing in some really good recruits to help push them into the top of the rankings. And these are some athletes that might be able to help them do it -- not just over the long term, but right away. |

There's just a few weeks left until CIS practices start up again, and the Ryerson Rams are going to have a good time of it, by the looks of this incoming class. The Rams will see 4 solid recruits, and a former player returning to the roster, when practice begins in September.

The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks brought in a big, solid class of recruits to start the 07-08 season, and so this year head coach Shayne White just had to build on that -- and build he did, in spades. White is bringing in two really strong recruits to keep strengthening his young roster, one of whom is a provincial-award winning beach competitor who represented Canada on the world stage this summer.

I don't know about you, but we have been watching a LOT of the Olympic volleyball since competition started on the weekend. We don't have cable, so it's been all streaming, all the time. One laptop showing an indoor match, another showing beach, and a big bowl of popcorn between us. It's been great coverage, and a lot of it. And the cool thing about the streams on CBC is that it's just the match and the stats and scores -- no announcers -- so with the match noise, it's kind of like being there. And to add to your viewing experience, the FIVB's tournament page has great information. Rosters, stats, reports, photo galleries, even live scoring -- it's all there. And there's a link for each of the men's and women's indoor, as well as the beach tourneys, right at your fingertips. We're going to need to set up another computer now. |
